I know the backstory is a bit longer than most, but it is necessary due to all the changes that have been made to the game. Nearly all the roster changes and promotion changes have been covered, with only a few "surprises" left in the game itself. For best results, set your PC clock to March, 2007 before starting a new game and use the "Auto put workers at ideal positions" feature.

The creator of the "This Means War" scenario,
Rob (Raven9198@aol.com)

August 2004 - Vince McMahon announces that he will be retiring from WWE in exactly one year, August 2005. Shane and Stephanie will be sharing the position he now holds. Reactions are mixed as some think it's the beginning of the end for WWE, while other see a bright future on the horizon.

Later 2004-Early 2005 - Ring of Honor successfully tours several parts of the country.

August 2005 - Vince McMahon retires from WWE after Summerslam. Shane and Stephanie take over duties immediately. Their first line of action is to end the failed brand extension.

November 2005 - Independent wrestler and independently wealthy Timothy Jeter forms his own promotion, Paradise City Championship Wrestling (PCCW). Jeter, who became frustrated with the lack of opportunity in the wrestling industry, was tired of being overlooked because he didn't have the right look or know the right people decided to use his money to give himself and others like him a fighting chance in the business. Running shows up and down the West Coast, PCCW and it's talented roster quickly gain a cult following.

March 2006 - A power struggle between Stephanie and Shane begins behinds the scenes at WWE. Stephanie wants to continue pushing established names, such as her husband, WWE Champion Triple H and the other stars who helped propel WWE to prominence back in 1998. Shane is furiously fighting to build towards the future and push newer talent. For the time being, Stephanie prevails.

April 2006 - PCCW become a national fed. Their rise threw the ranks is faster than any other promotion in the history of the business.

May 2006 - Triple H goes down with an injury that will keep him off TV. WWE quickly hotshots the World title on to Goldberg, who then drops the title to Randy Orton, who has deemed himself the new leader of Evolution and introduces Chris Nowinski as a new member. Ric Flair is slowly being phased out of Evolution to work with other new talent.

June 2006 - On the brink of becoming a National promotion, and on the singing of Bret Hart to an exclusive non-wrestler contract, Ring of Honor runs an extremely successful tour of Japan and other Asian countries. A wrestling boom is being predicted for the near future.

July 2006 - Eric Bischoff takes a leave of absence from WWE to executive produce a new television show.

August 2006 - The Shane/Stephanie feud boils over and plays out on screen. Several of the older stars side with Stephanie while Shane leads a revolution against the old guard with his group of new blood looking for a chance to break into the upper card. The majority of Stephanie's group is made up of mainly wrestlers from the old Raw brand, while Shane leads a majority of the Smackdown roster. Chris Jericho jumps over to Shane McMahon's side, tired of being second fiddle to Triple H and his friends.

September 2006 - Jeff Jarrett and the NWA: Total Nonstop Action group lose the rights to the NWA name and simply become TNA. Business for them is slightly down, but they are just on the brink of becoming a global promotion.

October 2006 - The Shane vs. Stephanie hits a boil point and is becoming extremely successful in bringing in new viewers. The popularity of wrestling is becoming stronger and stronger by the week due to the angle. With both groups consisting of heels and faces, the lines are more blurred than any nWo angle could even dream of.

November 2006 - Monday Night Raw, Randy Orton defends his group's (Raw) title against Kurt Angle. Angle has Randy Orton down and about to be beat until Triple H returns and attacks Angle, drawing a DQ loss for Orton.
The next Thursday on Smackdown, Randy Orton opens the show. He confronts Triple H, says that Evolution has left him behind and he is no longer the best in the business. That title now belongs to Orton. Triple H, attempting a face turn, attacks Orton and has the upper hand until Chris Nowinski attacks from behind and the two of them lay out Triple H. The crowd cheers Evolution. Triple H's attempted face turn has been badly botched.
The next Raw, Triple H enters to little reaction. He is not seen on TV again until the beginning of January.

December 2006 - The backstage turmoil between Shane and Stephanie reaches a breaking point and finally an agreement is reached. After Wrestlemania 23, WWE will be split into two distinct companies, ran totally separate from each other. Both companies will remain under the WWE, Inc. banner. Stephanie will run one company while Shane will run another.

January 2007 - Triple H returns to television as a midcard face and begins a feud with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, who have been dominated the upper midcard as heels. Shawn Michaels enters the feud on Triple H's side.

The original plan was for Triple H to win the Royal Rumble and challenge Randy Orton for the title at Wrestlemania. Since the face turn received no reaction, Kurt Angle was given the nod and won the Rumble and the right to face Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania.
Hulk Hogan returns to the WWE the next night and attacks WWE champion Chris Jericho on Raw. Three matches have now been set up for Wrestlemania. Chris Jericho vs. Hulk Hogan for the WWE (Smackdown) Championship. Randy Orton vs. Kurt Angle for the World Heavyweight (Raw) championship. Triple H and Shawn Michaels vs Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and Paradise City Championship Wrestling both cross over and become Global promotions. Ring of Honor is not far behind on the National front. The wrestling business has hit an all time high in popularity.

Rumors begin circulating that Steve Austin is unhappy with his position in the company.

February 2007 - The wrestling world is shaken to it's core as TNA Wrestling and Ring of Honor announce a merge! From the two companies, RoH:TNA will be born. Feeling financial pressures, Jerry Jarrett made the deal and has agreed to allow Rob Feinstein to retain the owner position. Enraged at the deal made behind his back, Jeff Jarrett leaves the company and is not seen on the wrestling scene for time to come.
Rumors have been rampant that Paul Heyman has been floating the idea of a reformation of ECW. With the recent unhappiness at his position in the company, his contract about to end, and the massive boom in business, now is the best time for Paul E. to make such a move. He insists the rumors are just that.

March 2007 - The top four television networks are all vying to land wrestling promotions in regard to the huge numbers the business has been doing. With four networks and only three top promotions, who will be left out in the cold?
Wrestlemania 23: In the third match, Triple H is pinned by Kevin Nash, ending the feud between the two duos. After the match, Triple H rises to his feet to a strong ovation. The red hot feud between the four members of the clique has restored a good amount of Triple H's popularity and has lifted him back into the upper mid-card. Shawn Michaels turns heel on Triple H after the match and forms the Wolfpac with Nash and Hall.
In the first of the double main events, Randy Orton defends his World Heavyweight (Raw) Championship against Kurt Angle. A very strong match for the first twenty minutes. Much like on Raw several months ago, Angle has Orton down and primed for a pin until Triple H makes his way down to the ring, breaking the no interference agreement that Shane and Stephanie had worked out on the Smackdown before Wrestlemania.
Triple H interferes on behalf of Randy Orton, further blurring the lines between heel and face between the two warring sides of WWE. Randy Orton makes the pin and retains the title. Trying to draw even more babyface heat, Triple H gets on the mic and says that while he may not like Orton, he wanted to do what was right for his group, for his company. Orton poses with the title until Triple H leaves him lying on the mat after a pedigree. Triple H poses with the title to a strong reaction and then leaves. Could this be the beginning of the Orton/Triple H feud that was teased so long ago?

In the second main event and final match of the night, Jericho defended his WWE Championship (SD) against Hulk Hogan in a No DQ match. After a brutal feud over the past two months, this match failed to deliver on any kind of payoff to the feud due to Hogan's ridiculously bad in-ring abilities. Jericho was basically wrestling himself in this match and many on the Internet compared it to the notoriously terrible hair vs. hair match against Kevin Nash on Raw back in 2003.
Despite his lack of skill, Hogan was still massively over with the crowd and once he hit his trademark big boot, sending the #1 heel in the game for the past 3 years to the mat, the crowd erupted. Hogan prepared to drop the big leg on Jericho and win his seventh WWE championship until over the P.A. "Here comes the money!" The crowd erupts and Hogan turns to see Shane-O-Mac standing in the aisleway, his trademark cocky grin across his face. Hogan, who had been having his share of problems with Shane, waves him into the ring for a fight. Shane doesn't budge, he just continues with the cocky grin. Again, the crowd erupts, but this time it's a split reaction for Eric Bischoff who has just came into the ring from the crowd, making his WWE return!
Hogan turns and stops Bischoff dead in his tracks. Slowly, Bischoff smiles and extends a handshake to Hogan. Cautiously, Hogan accepts and the two shake hands. The most notorious friendship in wrestling history is back on! Hogan prepares to drop the leg on Jericho one more time until a guitar is smashed over the back of his head! Did Bischoff turn? It's Jeff Jarrett! Jarrett has joined the WWE and has just laid out Hulk Hogan! Jericho is back on his feet, a lionsault, a 3 count and it's over! Shane enters the ring, and he, Bischoff, Jericho, and Jarrett celebrate.
Shane pulls a can of spray paint from pocket and across the back of the still unconscious Hogan, he sprays W...C...W! Shane gets on the mic and says that a new brand of wrestling has arrived. WCW is back and ready to take on the world starting tomorrow night on Nitro, head to head against Raw!

The company was widely blasted on the INTERNET for this move, for splitting up the company in the middle of a red-hot angle that had not been close to being resolved. The move to split the companies at this point and end the Shane vs. Stephanie feud was compared to monumental flop that was the WCW Invasion of 2001.

End of March 2007 - In preparation for the company split, the WWE let several things slip from their attention. The contracts of RVD, Rhino, Hurricane, Shannon Moore, D-Von Dudley, Bubba Ray, Spike, Tajiri, Tommy Dreamer, Stevie Richards, Brock Lesnar, Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin, and Paul Heyman have lapsed. All of these men become free agents in the biggest industry boom of all time.
It is also officially announced that Paul Heyman is definitely leaving WWE and attempting to restart ECW, purchasing the name from WWE, Inc. Buying the name left Paul E. with very little cash, so he resorted to some underhanded tactics.
Figuring that he could cash in on the huge appeal of the now superstar RVD, Heyman approached him first with a business proposal. RVD turned Paul Heyman down because he figured he had little time left in the business and needed to make big money while he could, but because of their friendship, RVD reached an agreement with Paul Heyman to allow Paul to negotiate RVD's next contract. Heyman scored big, getting RVD a huge money contract with the massively talented, but severely unknown roster of PCCW. Timothy Jeter finally had a well known star on his roster.

After the RVD deal was completed, Heyman approached Rhino and offered the same deal he offered to RVD. Come to ECW, be my main star. Again, Paul was turned down, but Rhino agreed to the same terms as RVD, allowing Paul to broker a deal for him. Immediately Paul went back to PCCW, hoping for lightning to strike twice. Jeter, already having the superstar he wanted on his roster, basically told Heyman to kiss off. Moving on, Heyman struck a big money deal with the newly formed RoHTNA, sending them the monster heel they had long been searching for.

With the money from the RVD and Rhino deal, Paul was on his way. He struck deals with D-Von Dudley, Bubba Ray, Spike, Tajiri, Tommy Dreamer, and Stevie Richards to be the backbone of ECW. Paul had a small roster, but he needed more and didn't have the money to move forward, until Brock Lesnar, impressed with the deals Paul scored for RVD and Rhino, approached Paul and cited the relationship they formed during their run together on WWE TV in 2002-2003 to get Paul to strike a deal for him as well. All of the "Fab Four," WWE, WCW, RoHTNA, and PCCW were involved in the high stakes bidding until Heyman agreed to a massive deal with Stephanie McMahon's WWE. Going to WWe along with Brock were Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin, as the three were close friends and agreed to go to the same company as a package deal.

Inching his way closer to his goal of reforming ECW, Paul was put over the top when he was approached by Hurricane and Shannon Moore who were tired of being stuck in dead end gimmicks when their obvious talents were being grossly overlooked. Paul quickly struck a deal with RoHTNA for the duo, which is where they wanted to go. Hurricane quickly switched back to his Shane Helms persona and the two of them, along with Christian York, Joey Matthews, and the newly returning Jeff Hardy, formed a face stable named OMEGA.

The deal was set and ECW was back on it's feet and running. April 1st will be the first official day of operations for the new ECW, primed with a late night television deal and a full roster of former ECW stars, along with a few indy stars who fit the ECW profile.

The month of March has been a wild one with most of the industry being turned upside down with companies splitting, wrestlers jumping ship and the most beloved cult federation of all time making it's return. Things were thought to have settled down until, -

At a live WWE, Inc. televised board meeting (time was needed to be filled on the 24 hour wrestling channel) discussing the company splitting, Steve Austin charged the room and went on an obscenity laced tirade about his position in the company and what he thought of the management, ending his outburst with his trademark middle fingers while he stormed from the room.
In order to save corporate face, WWE had no choice but to fire Stone Cold. Less than five hours later, a deal with RoHTNA was struck and Stone Cold was the newest member to that roster.

It is now April of 2007 and things have slowed down in the wrestling world some, save for all four of the major networks in America getting a wrestling show, on Monday Night! The Monday Night Wars are back as all four companies go head to head on Monday night, live in primetime! Which of the four major companies will pull ahead from the others, or will they all suck themselves down? How will ECW fare? Will yet another promotion emerge as a major player?

This is a hard scenario to play as after the first week, unless major moves are made, everyone loses PI points to each other due to differing factors.

For the hardest challenge, play as WWe, who have the least amount of in ring ability of the four Global promotions.

For the easiest, play as RoHTNA, who have take the least amount of hit in the PI promotion wars.

WCW and PCCW are more middle of the pack. PCCW has a stronger roster than everyone else, but they also have less star power than everyone else. WCW has a mix of both.

Or play as ECW and attempt to take down all five.

The sponsors and networks have been modified so that all four companies begin on equal footing with the same amount of sponsorship money available and the highest TV rating each can achieve being the same.
